One-to-one sessions for a director of an investment firm
During his assessment by the AFM (Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets), Jeroen Brenninkmeijer, director of an investment firm, was informed that it was time to refresh his knowledge of laws and regulations. To help him meet his training objectives, we developed a bespoke programme for him. This personalised programme consisted of online preparation followed by two face-to-face, one-to-one sessions with our consultants. Brenninkmeijer noted: “The solution provided by The Ministry of Compliance was perfect, both in terms of content and structure. The flexible e-learning component and the one-to-one sessions delivered by excellent instructors were an ideal combination.”
Online preparation followed by personal sessions
The online preparation comprised two of our awareness courses, Anti-Money Laundering (Wwft) and ESG, along with several topics from the DSI Continuous Professional Development programmes. Each module concluded with a test, which together yielded a certificate. Brenninkmeijer said: “The questions in the e-learning were challenging. I really had to dive deep into the material to pass the tests.”
The one-to-one sessions focused on financial supervision legislation (MiFID II), anti-money laundering (Wwft), and prudential regulations for investment firms. At the start, our consultant assessed which knowledge gaps the director still had. Subsequently, his knowledge was targeted and enhanced during two interactive sessions. “The on-site course was very pleasant,” Brenninkmeijer found. “The dense, legal content was translated in a clear and structured way into a framework that was relevant to me.”
Demonstrably up-to-date
The course provided Brenninkmeijer with a clearer overview of the legislation and regulations relevant to him. “I was already familiar with the main outlines, but thanks to the course, I now have a clearer picture of how everything comes together in the ultimate requirements for the licence holder. I also have a better understanding of where specific responsibilities lie,” he explained.
Upon completion of the course, the director received a statement per topic, allowing him to prove that his knowledge is at the required level. These statements, combined with the certificates, make the study results demonstrable to the regulator. “I appreciate that the results are anchored in a recommendation regarding the level achieved. The AFM has confirmed that the conditions have been met, so my goal has been achieved.”
