The Wwft will disappear with the arrival of new European regulation to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing: the EU AML Package. This package includes the AMLR and the AMLD6. The aim of the new rules is to harmonise regulation within Europe, so that the approach is more uniform across all EU countries.
In essence, not much changes. The new rules also give financial institutions and other entities the role of gatekeeper of the financial system. This still means that they need to know their clients well and monitor their clients’ transactions and occasional transactions.
What does change is that the new EU regulation prescribes a number of matters in much more detail, for example what information institutions must request from their clients. Supervision in Europe is also changing with the arrival of the new supervisor, AMLA.
In this course, we cover the most important changes without going into too much detail. We limit ourselves to the main points.

The baseline measurement contains two questions per main theme: one about the difference between the Wwft and the EU AML Package, and one about the content of the EU AML Package itself.
