From 10 July 2027, European regulation replaces the Wwft. The EU AML Package, which includes the Anti Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) and the sixth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD6), ensures that all EU countries apply the same rules. The role of gatekeeper stays the same: you need to know your clients and monitor their transactions. However, the AMLR sets out in much more detail what institutions must do, and AMLA becomes the new European supervisor.
